Today, our Nation pauses to observe Memorial Day, a day of reflection and reverence for

the men and women who laid down their lives in service to our country. These heroes made

the ultimate sacrifice so that we might live in freedom, peace, and possibility.

As members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, we wear the uniform not out of obligation, but

out of a deep commitment to serve. Those we remember today wore it knowing they might

never return home. Their sacrifice is a powerful and humbling reminder that the freedoms

we cherish have come at great cost.
