April marks National Volunteer Month, and there is no better time to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary contributions you make as members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

 

District 7 thrives because of your unmatched spirit of volunteerism. You give generously of your time, your talents, and your heart in support of the Coast Guard and in service to your communities. From conducting vessel safety checks, to educating the public, to supporting active-duty operations, to standing the watch at Stations and Sectors, your dedication is evident in every mission you undertake. You serve not for recognition, but out of a shared commitment to public safety, patriotism, and the greater good. Your impact is meaningful, lasting, and deeply appreciated.

 

As District 7 Commodore, I am inspired daily by the strength, professionalism, and pride you bring to every assignment. Your volunteerism makes a real and measurable difference throughout our dynamic region. This month, and every month, I thank you for your service. You exemplify the Coast Guard’s core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty, as well as our District ethos of Enthusiasm, Engagement, and Excellence. We are: 20 thousand members serving our nation and our communities in 980 local units. As of June 30, 2025, we have contributed 50 million hours this year in support of the U.S. Coast Guard, including in the classroom, at the ramp & pier, and operating 295 vessels, 109 aircraft and 490 radio facilities

What is the mission of the Coast Guard Auxiliary?

The Coast Guard Auxiliary’s primary mission is to contribute to the safety and security of citizens, ports, waterways, and coastal regions. This involves a combination of recreational boating safety efforts, Coast Guard support, and contributing to homeland security.
