National Safe Boating Week & Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day
15 May 2025
National Safe Boating Week (NSBW) runs from Saturday, May 17 through Friday, May 23, 2025, and is a key opportunity for us to advance our mission of promoting recreational boating safety throughout our district. As members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, we serve as the visible face of boating safety in our communities, and your engagement during this week matters.
To kick off NSBW, Friday, May 16 is National Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day. This lighthearted but impactful initiative encourages everyone, Auxiliarists, marina staff, boating partners, dealers, and the public, to wear a life jacket at work and help raise awareness about the importance of life jacket use.
Here’s how you can help:
- Wear your life jacket on May 16 and encourage fellow flotilla members, boating contacts, and partners to do the same.
- Take photos of yourself and your team wearing life jackets.
- Post them on social media with the following hashtags:
#wearyourlifejacketatworkday
#safeboating
#realboaterswearit
#lifejacketsSAVElives
#nationalsafeboatingweek
Boating remains one of the most popular outdoor activities in our region, and while it can be safe and fun, every year lives are lost due to preventable incidents. Your efforts, through vessel exams, public education, patrols, and community engagement, helps save lives and protect our waterways.
Thank you for your leadership and continued commitment to making District 7 a model for boating safety across the nation.
